Dissolved and Particulate Beryllium Isotopes in the Pearl River Estuary: Their Geochemical Behavior in Estuarine Water and Potential Contributions From Anthropogenic Sources

چکیده
The ratio of cosmogenic 10 Be and its stable isotope 9 has been used as a proxy long-term continental weathering fluxes denudation rates, but transport processes these isotopes from river water to estuarine seawater, well interference potential anthropogenic source on natural Be/ around populated estuaries are not constrained. Here, we present results concentrations dissolved reactive particulate phase in the Pearl River Estuary (PRE) eight major outlets. Cu, Cd, Pb also measured, allowing us assess their contamination levels together with by geo-accumulation index ( I geo –reac ) enrichment factor (EF). A wide distribution pattern (137–1,194 at/g (0.781–8.31 × –12 g/g among outlets is observed. coefficients K d both between sediment order 5 , average only 5% exists form. Compared total meteoric deposited basin, 23% retained while 38% finally escape estuary transported into coastal seawater. Despite high Cu lower EF values indicate that hardly polluted source. Thus, PRE area mainly associated instead human activities.

Flocculation of metals is one of the most important estuarine processes that occur due to the mixing of seawater and river water and colloidal metals undergo this process come in the form of flocculants. Due to the important role of flocculation process in producing suitable food sources for aquatic organisms and reducing the amount of input pollution into aquatic environments, the present stud...
متن کاملAnthropogenic sources and distribution of phosphorus in sediments from the Jaguaribe River estuary, NE, Brazil.
This paper estimates annual P emission to the Jaguaribe River estuary, NE Brazil, responsible for approximately 30% of the country's farmed shrimp production. Emissions increased three times between 2001 and 2006 and reached 43.9 t.year-1. These emissions make aquaculture the third main source of P for this estuary and are much smaller than emissions from agricultural sources and slightly lower...
متن کاملAbsorption and fluorescence of chromophoric dissolved organic matter in the Pearl River Estuary, South China
The Pearl River is a complex river network under the influence of heavy urbanization and industrialization. The Pearl River Estuary receives freshwater from eight major sources, each containing various pollutants. The spectral absorption and fluorescence properties of chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM) in the Pearl River Estuary were studied during November 2002, a low flow (dry) seas...
